Obituary

A.L. "Dave" Bynum, Jr. passed away peacefully in the early hours of Sunday, May 24, 2015, departing this world for his place with the Lord in Heaven, following a long fight with Alzheimer's disease. A.L. was born on August 01, 1929 to his parents August L. Bynum, Sr. and Estelle Viola Crawford-Bynum in Indian Gap, Texas. The family later moved to Houston, Texas where A.L. and his brother Don Earl spent their childhoods.

After graduating high school, A.L. served with the U.S. Air Force in the south pacific until honorably discharged on June 30, 1950. Shortly before discharge and while on leave in Houston, A.L. met Sarah Jean Stich and they were soon married.

A.L. was a devout Christian and an ordained minister in the Southern Baptist Church. He was a devoted family man, married to his beloved Sarah Jean for 43 years before she succumbed to cancer at the age of 62. They had made their home in Houston, Texas where together they raised three adoring children, Linda Sue, David Laurence and Paul Irving.

Following Sarah Jean's passing, A.L. longed for a small-town life in the country. That pursuit brought him to Wimberley, Texas, where he met Phyllis Joanne Lattomus. They were married in 1995 and made their home in Wimberley, where they retired and planned to idyllically spend their remaining years together.

A.L. "Dave" is lovingly survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Phyllis Joanne Lattomus Bynum of Wimberley Texas, and her daughter Yvonne Duncan; his daughter Linda Sue Bynum of Los Angeles, California; his son Paul Irving Bynum and wife Kenna Marie and their daughter Sarah Jean of Los Angeles, California; and his brother Don Earl Bynum and wife Billie of Glendale Texas. Other surviving family members of Sarah Jean Stich-Bynum are Tobias Mattox and wife Rachel of Houston, Texas; Herman Mattox and wife Judith of Plano, Texas; and Evelyn O'Connor and her husband Dale of Dallas, Georgia.

A.L. "Dave" is greatly missed by all whose lives he touched, but all are comforted in the knowledge that he has left for an eternity in Heaven.
