ALFRED A. SHAW passed away January 29, 2017, at his home in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on July 22, 1949, in San Marcos to Cranston and Janice (Nichols) Shaw. Alfred was the oldest of four boys. He attended school in San Marcos and Austin. In 1967 Alfred was drafted into the United States Army. He is a veteran of the Viet Nam war. Alfred was married to Erie Jones and to this union a daughter, N'Keeya was born. Alfred loved the outdoors, traveling, driving trucks, cooking, craftsmanship, and watching sports, especially the Longhorns, Spurs, and the beloved Dallas Cowboys.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother Aubrey A. Shaw; and his daughter Anissa Jones. Alfred leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter N'Keeya Shaw and her husband Terrence Arrington of Carrollton, Texas; his grandchildren Xavian Shaw, Terra and Sania Arrington, Robert, Sun Asia, Mahogany , and Khadejah; and his great-granddaughter Kyra Shaw. He also leaves his brothers Alvin Shaw (Patsy) of Round Rock, Texas; Antoine Shaw (Bobbie) of Austin, Texas; his special friend Kacenia Archie; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2017, at Thomason Funeral Home here in San Marcos. Rev. Marilyn Andrews of Wesley Chapel, A.M.E. will be the officiant. Alfred will be laid to rest with full military honors at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio on Thursday, February 9, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. Acting as pallbearers will be Alvin Shaw, Adrian Shaw, Antoine Shaw, Doug Baylor, Robert Walker, and Xavian Shaw.
