Beatrice Jane Lovelady, age 86, passed peacefully from this life into the presence of the Lord surrounded by her loving family on the afternoon of February 22, 2017, in San Marcos, TX, after a brief period of declining health.

Born on July 14, 1930 in Brown County, TX, she was the sixth of 10 children of the late Arthur Ealy and Maggie (Baird) Switzer.

Jane continued as a lifelong Texan, residing in Dickinson before retiring to Spicewood with her husband, Lonzo John (L.J.) Lovelady, whom she had wed in 1947. They had been married for 42 years at the time of his death on February 22, 1989.

She was a current member of First Baptist Church of San Marcos, TX, and a former member of the Spicewood (TX) Baptist Church.

Throughout the years, she enjoyed floral design, arts and crafts, and sewing, and was celebrated for her cooking, especially her famous fried shrimp and the traditional Switzer family raisin pies.

Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will fondly remember her stories about both the hardships and the simple pleasures of days gone by.

She is survived by three daughters, Kathryn Elaine Baulch and husband Clay of Quemado, TX; Lynda Lovelady Gordon and husband Kenny of San Marcos, TX; and Patsy Ann Lovelady of San Antonio, TX.

Also surviving are six grandchildren: Charles Russell (Rusty) Hollingsworth of Golthwaite, TX; Becky Darlene Sultemeier of Cypress Mill, TX; Ashley Denise Gordon of Gardendale, TX; Trevor Lee Gordon of San Marcos, TX; Kendyl Faith Gordon of San Marcos, TX; and Michael Nolan Guerrero of San Antonio, TX.

Great-grandchildren include Carlie and Braden Hollingsworth, both of Goldthwaite; and Darren and Brett Sultemeier, both of Cypress Mill.

Other survivors are her brother Marshall Ray Switzer and wife Carol of Brownwood, TX; sister-in-law Nita Switzer of Santa Fe, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Preceding her in death were her husband and her daughter Barbara Faye Hollingsworth; and her siblings Fannie Marie Stephens, Greta Mae Kline, Ida Lee Jackson, Arthur Junior Switzer, Bettie Nell Yancy, Thomas Lee Switzer, William Edmond Switzer, and Otis Jewel Switzer.

Arrangements provided by Thomason Funeral Home with the reverend Bob Maas officiating.

Visitation will take place from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Friday. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm Saturday. Burial will follow at Fall Creek Cemetery in Spicewood, TX.

The family extends special gratitude to the staffs of the Central Texas Medical Center, the CTMC Hospice Care Unit, and the Brookdale San Marcos Senior Living Community.
