Concepcion Apolinar "Amá" Carrillo Teneyuque was born in San Marcos Texas to Octaviano and Juana Carrillo on June 24, 1914 and departed this world on November 17, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Antero, Son, Antonio, 3 infant children: Victoriano, Severa and Gorgonia; Grandchildren: Gilbert and Felix Mosqueda, Tito Teneyuque Jr., Dolores, Peter, and Joey Facundo; Great-grandchildren: Isaac Torres, Roy Ramirez, Jr. and Johnnie T. Rosales; her parents, and all of her nine siblings.
Apolinar was survived by her children: Mrs. Ausencia T. Mosqueda, Mrs. Lucia Palomo, Mr. Santos Teneyuque, Mr. Tito Teneyuque (Della), Ms. Severa Teneyuque, Mrs. Severina Facundo (Gregory), Mrs. Liandra Hernandez (Evaristo Jr.), Mrs. Teresa Gonzales, (George), Mr. Pedro Teneyuque, Mr. Domingo Teneyuque (Yolanda), Mrs. Lorida Suarez (Leo), Mr. Rogelio Teneyuque, and Miss Apolinar "Paula" Teneyuque. She is also survived by: 38 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren. She leaves behind a family 5 generations strong. To those who knew her, Amá was a woman of unparalleled strength. She was a survivor, withstanding the loss of several of her children and living through hard economic times. She was a devoted mother and a tireless hard worker. Simple things made her happy. She loved to sing and dance. She loved to socialize. Her eyes would light up and sparkle whenever company came. She could make everyone feel welcome. Her family remembers how she always smiled and laughed. Her humor and warmth and motherly wisdom were experienced daily by everyone. Amá had little with which to keep a house but that didn't stop her. Now, Amá is no longer here and our world is no longer the same. Alzheimer's disease made our loss gradual but no less profound. It has been a long goodbye. But now she is whole again.
Amá, thank you for giving us the gift of seeing life through your eyes and the gift of a world that we will never forget. Until we meet again.
