Delia S. Lucio, age 92 of San Marcos, was called to be with our heavenly Father on Thursday, September 28, 2017. Delia was born February 7, 1925 in Martindale, Texas the daughter of Rienaldo Zaldivar and Barbarita Gomez. When she was 17, she met her future husband Augustin Lucio, Jr. who was about to leave for training in the U.S. Army. In 1945, they reunited and got married. She became a homemaker, devoted wife, and a mother to four children. Delia was also a business owner. She was a certified beautician for thirteen years while still raising her family. She was awarded “Mother of the Year”. Thus, Delia was strong, capable, and tireless, always striving to make everything better for everyone.

She was involved in many of her children’s activities and committed herself to be a member of many school and community clubs. She was active in the PTO/PTA, Rattler Band Booster Club, and the San Marcos Rattler Football Booster Club. She was a member of Archicofradia, African Violets Society of America, San Marcos Chamber of Commerce, American G.I. Forum Women’s Auxiliary, and the VFW Auxiliary. Also, she was a life-long member of St. John’s Catholic Church in San Marcos.

She is survived by daughters Rosemary and Carol; son Joe (Sheryl); son Robert (Josie); grandchildren Steven (Brooke), Janellica (Paul) and Gabriel and great grandchildren Lauryn, Kaytlynn, Kayley, and Valentina. She is also survived by one brother Robert Gomez (Susie) and other family members and friends. She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years and her brother Joe.

Visitation will be Thursday evening, October 5th, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomason Funeral Home in San Marcos. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 6th, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church with Father Brion Zarsky officiating.
