Doris "Rudie" Stallings, 81, of San Marcos, Texas passed away on Wednesday, November 11th in New Braunfels, Texas.
Rudie was born in Waco, TX on October 4, 1934 to Rudolph and Olga Bletsch. She grew up in Waco, graduated from Waco High School, and went on to graduate from The University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Education. Rudie had a variety of accomplishments throughout her life. She was a talented musician, artist, and writer. She thoroughly enjoyed gardening and the outdoors. As her children grew older, she became a successful real estate agent and later started a real estate company of her own in Austin. Later in life she earned her pilot's license and would often assume navigator duties as she and her husband, Rex, traveled throughout the USA in their airplane. She was always involved in church and community service throughout her life. Family was important to Rudie, but she also opened her heart and home to help anyone in need. Rudie always maintained close relationships with her extended family and will be deeply missed.
Mrs. Stallings was preceded in death by both of her parents, her brother Grady Ray (Buddy) Bletsch, and her son, Russell Stallings. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Rex Stallings, Sr.; son, Ray Stallings and his wife, Lisa of Granbury, TX; son, Rex Stallings, Jr. and his wife, Jan of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Scott Stallings of Tomball, TX; Susan Stallings of Granbury, TX; Summer Stallings of San Marcos, TX; Hayden Stallings of Bellville, TX; Katy Cockburn and her husband, Barney of San Marcos, TX; and Megan Ambrose of San Marcos, TX.
A private burial will be held in Waco, TX. A memorial service to celebrate Rudie's life will be held at First Christian Church of San Marcos on December 22, 2015 at 3:00 PM.
