Duane Berry of San Marcos, died August 5, 2012, two weeks shy of his 84th birthday. He was born August 20, 1928 in Benton County, Tennessee to E.C. and Lorene Berry. Serving in the Air Force, Duane came to San Marcos, Texas in 1950, where he met the love of his life, Dorothy "Dot" Lane of Wimberley. They were happily married for 55 years. Upon completion of his military service, Duane began a long and successful business career as owner of Berry's Mobil and U-Haul. He had many interests and talents. Duane was an accomplished painter, musician, birder, and solver of crossword puzzles. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing and swapping stories with close fishing buddies such as Curlo Morris, T.J. Haley, Don Williams, Jack Oldham, O.D. Scott, and Reece Morrison. Duane Berry was a true Renaissance Man.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Dot; his parents; sisters Imajane Berry, Ione Evans, Doris Kozak; and brother Olian Berry. He will be greatly missed by daughters Dana Lombard and husband Milton, Dawn Wells and husband Jim; grandchildren Jacob Duane Wells, Joshua Wells, Jenna Wells, Lindsay Lombard Kennedy and husband Kenneth, Lacey Lombard Peyton and husband Price; and great granddaughter Olivia Kennedy, who brought him much joy in his last months. He is also survived by siblings Joanne Cohoon, Sandra Gus, and Dean Berry.

A graveside memorial service will be held at the Wimberley Cemetery on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. Family members would be honored to have friends join them immediately following the service at the old Berry's Mobil Station (Zelick's, 336W Hopkins Street) to remember and celebrate Duane's life.
