Edward Whitfield Bryan, 85, of Wimberley, went home to be with the Lord on December 3, 2012. His death was the result of a September 13 automobile accident following a beach trip to Port Aransas with his precious Libby. He was born on July 1, 1927 in Jean, TX to Ruby Boyle and Buie Bryan. Ed graduated from Robert E. Lee HS in Baytown in 1945 where he ran track, and from TCU in 1950 following a stint in the Navy.
Married to Elizabeth (Libby) Jenkins in 1952 in Baytown, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last July.
Ed was a Systems Analyst at Exxon for 32 years. He started at the Baytown refinery in 1951, spent 3 years in Iran and finished his career in 1983 in the Refining Controllers department in Houston.
Living overseas nurtured Ed and Libby's interest in world travel and foreign foods. He enjoyed flying, golfing, RV-ing, cheering for his TCU Horned Frogs, and most of all, gardening — but none were as important to him as his wife and children.
Ed is survived by his wife, son Rick (Becca) Bryan of Centreville, VA, daughters Lisa (Gary) Schone of Boulder, CO and Susan (Kyle) Pfeiffer of Austin; grandchildren Jordan and Bryan Pfeiffer of Austin, Laurel Schone of South Asia, and Taylor Bryan of Morgantown, WV; great-grandchild Rylee Pfeiffer (Austin); sisters Sue Peterson of Wichita Falls and Pat (Jim) Brian of Kingwood; aunt Kay Bennett of Wichita Falls and numerous nieces and nephews.
