Gloria Rae Aning was born in Luverne, Minnesota on Jan 13, 1948 to Benard and Tressa Aning. She was raised on a small farm in George, Iowa. After graduating from George Community High School, Gloria attended nurses training at St. John's School of Nursing in Huron, South Dakota. After graduating, Gloria entered the Air Force as a 2nd Lt. Gloria was honorably discharged after serving one term. Gloria worked in labor and delivery in several hospitals around the country. In 1984, Gloria adopted her daughter, Kala, her pride and joy, as a newborn. She moved to San Antonio in 1994. She ended her career at the Central Texas Medical Center in San Marcos, Texas. Gloria touched many by fulfilling her passion in administering and teaching compassionate care to mothers, infants, and fellow care providers for 44 years. Gloria passed away on May 31, 2014. She is survived by her daughter, Kala, and her husband Chris Homan of San Mateo, CA; brothers Jake of Sioux Falls, SD, Harm of Georgetown, TX, Bruce of Rock Rapids, IA, Terry of Austin, TX; and her only sister Twila (Feldman) of George, IA. Her final wishes were to be spread over roses.
