Granvil Ray "GR" Williams slipped into the arms of Jesus on May 7, 2010 at the age of 90. He was surrounded by his family, pastors, and AlzCare family.
He was a born again believer and would tell everyone that Jesus Christ was his hope. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Kyle, TX for 27 years. He served in the US Navy and was a Pearl Harbor survivor on the USS West Virginia. He served his country well.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Helen Creswell Williams of Kyle; four daughters, Karen Kyser and husband Mel, Jan Karr and husband Ted, Kathy Jurek and husband Fred, and Debra Reeves and husband Jeff; two sisters, Shirley Babbit and Letha Sly; seven grandchildren, Aaron Karr, Aimee Karr, Jason Kyser, Elizabeth Lipich, Sara Lewis, Meagan Baldauf, and Josh Jurek; three great-grandchildren, Aidan Karr, Brynley Karr, and Elliot Lewis; many nieces and nephews and close family friend, Donna Richardson.
Our family would like the staff at AlzCare in San Marcos to know that we will never forget the love, professional care and encouragement that you gave our father. You have become our family. Thank you for guiding us through this journey.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be given to AlzCare-San Marcos.
Funeral services will be conducted at First Baptist Church of Kyle on Wednesday, May 12 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio at 1:30 pm. Funeral arrangements made by Thomason Funeral Home in San Marcos. (512) 396-2300.
