HENRY “KIKE” C. YBARRA, SR., 81, a life-long resident of San Marcos, Texas, passed away April 30, 2010. He was born October 21, 1928, in San Marcos, to Alfredo M. and Epemenia (Cisneros) Ybarra. Henry worked as a truck driver for the Hughson Meat Company for forty-three years. He also worked as a butcher in several meat markets throughout the area. Henry was the reigning champion of the Dominoes Tournaments and the Wheelchair races held during the Senior Olympics which are held periodically and attended by local and surrounding nursing homes.
Henry is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Fred C. Ybarra and Roy C. Ybarra, the mother of his children Mary V. Ybarra, his second wife Pauline Mendoza, his infant daughter Joann Ybarra, and his grandson SSgt. Henry Ybarra, III. He is also survived by twenty-six great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren, and his sisters Berta Y. Pinales and Adelina Y. A Rosary Service was held Monday, May 3, 2010, at Thomason Funeral Home, and the Funeral Service was 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010, in the Chapel of Thomason Funeral Home.
