Obituary

J.M. "Jim" Westbrook, 67, of Wimberley, TX passed away at Seton Medical Center in Austin, Texas on Wednesday, June 1, 2011.
Jim was born in Jasper, Texas on February 7, 1944, to Mainor and Ruby McGraw Westbrook. He worked at DuPont in Beaumont, Texas for forty-five years as a Laboratory technician. Jim also was on the Port Neches-Groves School Board for fourteen years and was a basketball referee for twenty-four years serving also in the State Basketball Tournament as an Official for four years. He was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Port Neches as well as the Wimberley United Methodist Church where he was chairman of the Church Council. Jim had lived in Port Neches for thirty-two years prior to moving to Wimberley in 2007.
Jim is survived by his wife, Kay Westbrook of Wimberley, Texas; children, Steve Westbrook and his wife, Jill of Ledbetter, Texas, Greg Westbrook and his wife, Amy of Diamondhead, Mississippi, Brad Westbrook of Johnson City, Tennessee, Ginny Ledwell and her husband, Brian of Houston, and Stephen Young and his wife, Kimmie of Brock, Texas; grandchildren, Derek, Blake, Tyler, Braxton and Avery Westbrook, Zane and Zack Young; sister, Janice May of Lumberton, Texas; brother, David Westbrook of LaGrange, Texas. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Mainor and Ruby Westbrook; brothers, Nelson Westbrook and Paul Westbrook
Friends may call on the family from 6-8 p.m., Friday, June 3rd at the Thomason Funeral Home located at 14700 Ranch Rd. 12, Wimberley, TX. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 4, 2011, at the Wimberley United Methodist Church, in Wimberley, Texas. Interment will follow at the San Marcos Cemetery in San Marcos. A "Fellowship" with friends and family will be held at the United Methodist Church following the graveside services.
A Memorial Service will be held at First Baptist Church of Port Neches on Magnolia Street at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011.
In Lieu of Flowers "Memorial Contributions" can be made to Wimberley United Methodist Church at 1200 Country Road 1492, Wimberley, TX 78676.
