James Allen Remmert, 86, of San Marcos, TX passed away on Monday, November 28th in San Marcos, TX. He was born in Houston, TX on August 29, 1930 to Theodore and Willa (Tate) Remmert.
His loving wife, Phyllis Remmert, precedes him in death. He is survived by his son, Frank Remmert and his wife, Brooke of Santa Fe, NM; daughter, Rosanne Tinsley and her husband, Gerald of Humble, TX; daughter, Lynny Moore and her partner, Gabrielle of San Marcos, TX; daughter, Marlene Clark and her husband, Craig of Austin, TX; son, Greg Scarborough and his wife, Liza of Pflugerville, TX; son, Joel Scarborough of Frisco, TX; his first wife, Christine McFarlin; sister, Betsy Dawson and family of Kingsville, TX; grandchildren, Autumn, Noah, Gavan, Allison, Roxy, Christa, Caitlyn, Scott and Ian; and great-grandchildren, Vivy, Theodore, Gerald and Cameron, and his cat, Sarge.
Mr. Remmert served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. A printer by profession, he worked for 15 years and retired from Scott, Douglass & Luton in Austin, Texas. Having a life-long struggle with depression, Jim found solace being outdoors, from the beaches of Padre Island to the rivers, lakes and creeks of the Texas Hill Country. Once retired, he loved to travel with his best friend and wife, Phyllis. He was a unique individual with a passion for calligraphy, listening to likes of Santana, reading and history, gardening and taking care of his cats.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 18th at the Thomason Funeral Home in San Marcos, TX with a reception to follow.
