Karen Ann (Black) Stachowitz, 63, a resident of San Marcos was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on January 24, 2014.
She was born on January 3, 1951 in La Crosse, WI to Richard and Marion (Redig) Black. She received her High School Diploma from Onalaska High School. She worked at Texas State University in the Graduate College as a Graduate Admissions Coordinator. She worked for them beginning in 1995 and retired from Texas State on January 31, 2013. Karen was an active member of First Lutheran Church in San Marcos where her faith carried and comforted her.
She is preceded in death by her husband John Joseph Stachowitz, her father Richard Black, her mother Marion Black and sister Sue Black. She is survived by her son Brian John Stachowitz and wife Melissa; daughter Beth Ann Stachowitz; daughter Becky Jo Skelton and Randy Skelton; grandchildren Emily Stachowitz, Melanie Stachowitz, Miranda Stachowitz, Anissa Stachowitz, Anya Stachowitz, Mason Skelton, Madison Skelton, Liliana Stachowitz and Sophia Stachowitz. Karen is also survived by her sister Sharon Graham and husband Patrick; brother Richard Black and wife Karen; several nieces and nephews and many loving friends. She was never one to be the center of attention but people loved to be around her. Her kind, loving and gentle spirit will be missed by all of those she touched in life.
A memorial service will be held at 11am Friday January 31 at First Lutheran Church on Holland Street in San Marcos. Pastor Ann Koopmann will officiate the service.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Central Texas Medical Center who took excellent care during her stay, Dr. Greg Moore and the staff at Warms Springs Rehabilitation. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church of San Marcos or CTMC Hospice of San Marcos.
