Obituary

Karen Sue (Kerr) Burris, 67, passed away on January 28, 2013 at her home in Wimberley, Texas. She was surrounded by family and friends. Karen was born on November 21, 1945 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to William Doyle and Sarah Melinda (Cook) Kerr.

Karen grew up in Southern Illinois. She graduated from Shawnee High School in Wolf Lake, Illinois in 1963. After high school she:

• Attended Office Training School in Cape Girardeau, Missouri
• She began working for R.B. Potashnick General Contractor in Cape Girardeau, Missouri as a receptionist where she worked for 2 years. She worked for attorney's W.H. Connors and Parker McCullough in Georgetown, Texas for 8 years. Then she and her husband started Burris Construction, Inc. in 1988 where she worked for 15 years until she retired in 2003. She and her husband purchased the Northstar Ranch in Telegraph, TX in 1999 where she loved hunting, and entertaining friends and relatives.

Karen married Lonnie Burris on May 28, 1971 in Houston, TX. They were happily married for 41 years. Karen was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Internatinal Sorority in Georgetown, TX. She enjoyed entertaining and celebrating with family and friends, cooking, traveling, tennis, and hunting.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents William Doyle and Sarah Melinda Kerr of Poplar Bluff, MO; her niece Lisa Diane West of Poplar Bluff, MO; her nephew Larry Dean Kerr of Bastrop, TX; her sister-in-law Ruth Kerr of Poplar Bluff, MO

Karen is survived by her husband Lonnie of Wimberley, TX: her sons Marty and Drew Davis of Jonesboro, IL, Regan (Nadia) Burris of San Marcos, TX, Kirk Burris of Schaumburg, IL, Kent (Robin) Burris of Lexington, TX, Scott Murphy of Poplar Bluff, Mo; her brothers Robert (Ruby) Kerr of Poplar Bluff, MO., and Larry (Alice) Kerr of Bastrop, TX; her grandchildren Matthew, Patrick, Brittany, Tyler, Shelby, Kaycee, and Andrea; her great-grandchildren Kaiden, and Brelynn; and her nephews and nieces Bobby, Ron, Lana, and Debbie.

The family will be greeting friends and relatives for a celebration of her life which will be held at the Embassy Suites located at 1001 E. McCarty Lane San Marcos, TX from 1pm-6pm on Sunday February 10, 2013. A Burial Service will be on February 16, 2013 at 2pm at City Cemetery located at 1901 N Main St, Poplar Bluff, MO.
