Born in Saltillo, Coahilla, Mexico, Maria De La Luz Brodeur lived life filled with her faith in God and love for her family, friends, and community. She lived in Alamogordo, New Mexico for 20 years after marrying Raymond Brodeur in 1962. Maria and Raymond raised three children, Anna, Arthur, and Patricia. Ray and Maria settled in Waco, TX in 1985 and then to San Marcos, TX in 2003.
Maria was an active parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waco and St. John's Catholic Church in San Marcos. Maria shared her heart and time in charitable organizations such as St. Vincent De Paul, Meals on Wheels, and praying the rosary with the residents of Hays Nursing Home.
Maria is survived by her brothers Carlos Jimenez Olivarez and Javier Jimenez Olivarez and sisters Carmen and Ava and; children Anna Keyzers of Reno, NV, Arthur Brodeur of Waco, TX and Patricia Fernandez of San Marcos, TX; and grandchildren Andre Evrenos, Kimberly Keyzers, and Ryan Keyzers.
The family will receive friends Monday, March 25, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Thomason Funeral Home, 2001 Old Ranch Road 12, San Marcos, TX. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Tuesday, March 26 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Kyle, TX. Interment will follow at San Marcos Cemetery.
