Melba Baldwin, age 77, a beautiful believer in Jesus Christ, went to be with her Lord and Savior, on July 3, 2012. Melba was born on July 13, 1934 to Hofford and Laura Smith in Gilbertown, Alabama. She graduated from the University of Alabama with a B.S. degree in Nursing; she received a Masters of Public Health from Tulane University and a Ph.D. in Health Promotions from the Texas Women's University. She taught at the graduate level for over 20 years and traveled extensively with students in Europe and Africa examining health delivery systems.
Apart from her magnificent beauty, Melba possessed a love for Jesus that shone more beautiful than the sun. Her strong faith, unshakeable joy and selfless love for others were the glorious result of her Savior and dearest friend, Jesus Christ. The memory and fingerprints she left behind will remain a blessing and inspiration throughout the life times of many.
Melba was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was affectionately known as "Nana" to her grandchildren. Melba is survived by her husband of 55 years, Glenn Baldwin; daughters, Laura Baldwin, Kathy Baldwin Burnette and husband Grady Burnette; grandchildren, Buck Wilson Burnette, Laura Olivia Burnette, Isabel Marie Burnette, Ian Edwin Burnette; also survived by loving sisters and brothers, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held in Wimberley at Cypress Creek Church.
