Obituary

Robert James Brooks of San Marcos, Texas, was received into the hands of Our Heavenly Father on June 19, 2014, at the age of 77. He was born on October 13, 1936, to Anna Belle York Brooks and Robert James Brooks in St. Augustine, Fla.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, two brothers Reuben Peppers and Leroy Peppers, and two sisters Gladys McRae and Lula Mae Coley.

Bob honored his family and country by serving in the United States Air Force. He served in the Vietnam Conflict/War with SAC (Strategic Air Command). After serving 20 years and retirement from USAF, he continued with a 20 year career in Civil Service.

Bob was a loving Father, Grandfather & Great Grandfather. He was a kind man with a compassionate heart. He loved the Lord and was a devout Catholic. He enjoyed spending time with family, watching sports, cooking, reading and traveling.

Bob is survived by: his former wife and best friend Rose L. Brooks of San Marcos, TX, three children, Reuben Brooks, Michele Brooks Burleson (Brian) of San Marcos, TX, Brittney Burleson Tansil (Raymond) of Seguin, TX, Camille Shaw of Austin, TX, two "sweeties" Great Granddaughters, Brooklyn Rose and Bailey Rae Tansil of Seguin, TX, two sisters Allie McPherson of Tampa, Fla, and nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 25, 2014, from 3 to 7 pm and Recitation of Rosary will begin at 7 pm at Thomason Funeral Home Chapel, 2001 Old Ranch Road 12. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, June 26, 2014, at 10 am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 624 E. Hopkins St. Rev. Victor Mayorga will officiate. Military Honors and Interment will follow at 2:30 pm at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery San Antonio, TX.
