Roberta Ethelene Kersey, 92, of Wimberley, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 17, 2017.
Ethelene was a lifelong member of Belton Church of Christ and was baptized at the age of 9 at the "old tabernacle" at the Belton Church.
Ethelene was born on November 7, 1924 in Belton, Texas to Ethel "Mena" Lusk Smith and Robert (Brad) Smith of Belton. She graduated from Belton High School in 1942 and was a graduate of King's Daughter's School of Nursing.
She worked in various clinics, hospitals and nursing homes in the Temple and Belton area. Later in life, Ethelene moved to the Dripping Springs-Wimberley area to be close to family.
Ethelene was a gifted artist and was a past member of Belton Fine Arts Association. She was an accomplished seamstress and upholsterer. She was also a "stained glass artist". She could tackle almost anything. However, her greatest gift was giving to others and caring for many elderly family members until the end of their lives.
Ethelene was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Royce Lee Kersey.
Ethelene is survived by daughters, Leeann Radel of Austin, Mary Lynn Schroeder (Dan) of Wimberley, grandchildren, Scott Schroeder (Denise), Lori Howe (Terry), Brad Schroeder (Leaanne) of Dripping Springs, Michelle Hernandez (Guillermo), of Keller, and Traci Whitis and Barbara Radel of Austin. Seven great-grandchildren survive her: Alyssa, Danielle, and Carson Schroeder, Avery and Peyton Howe, and Ella Grace and Bracken Schroeder, all of Dripping Springs. Survivors also include cousins Carolyn Krieg, Sue Byrne, Kay Johnson, and Bob Fulwiler, and sister-in-law, Jessie Mesis Kersey of Hennessey, Oklahoma.
Memorial service celebrating Ethelene's life will be held on Monday, March 27 at Thomason Funeral Home in Wimberley, Texas at 10:00 a.m.
