Obituary

Refugia "Ruth" Lozano Chagoya, a resident of San Marcos, passed away Friday, December 9, 2016 at the age of 88.

Refugia was a loving mother, and grandmother. She was an active member of The Guadalupe Church where she served as a Guadalupana, volunteering her time to serve the Lord. She was devoted to her family, always willing to help and teach her strong faith in the Lord. For example she would invite her family and friends to join her on her trips to San Juan yearly. She touched so many lives and everyone she met was considered a friend. If she was not spending time with family or friends, she loved painting, enjoyed listening to music and shopping. Her house was always a welcoming place filled with love, food, and joy. Her beautiful smile will be missed.

Refugia was born in San Marcos to Baldomero and Ignacia Lozano on June 4, 1928. She married Consuelo Chagoya in 1941.

Refugia is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and husband, as well as her sons David and Ismael Chagoya.
Refugia is survived by her children; sons Hilberto Chagoya of San Antonio, Juan (Velia) and Joe (Cindy) of San Marcos; daughters Mary Villanueva (Raymond), Olivia Espinoza (James), Linda Chagoya-Delgado (Rudy), Sulema Garcia (Manuel Gonzalez), and Elsa Valdez, all of San Marcos, as well as Yolanda Garcia (Daniel) of Austin; Minga Gutierrez (David) of San Marcos and the Crayton family who were more than friends; and brothers Mr. and Mrs. Juan Lozano and Mr. and Mrs. Roberto Quintero Sr. She had 33 grandchildren, 92 great-grandchildren, 32 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be John Ismael Valdez, Robert Espinoza, Jacob Delgado, Ismael Chagoya, Andy Garcia Jr., Hilberto Chagoya, and Edward Pavia

The Chagoya family would like to express their gratitude for all the love, support and prayers from everyone. A special thanks to National Home Healthcare and staff for all the loving care she received.
