Obituary

Sharon Joyce Vikre was born Sep 7, 1940 to Walter and Gladys (Neste) Vikre and grew up on a farm in northeast Iowa near Decorah.
She attended a one room schoolhouse for grammar school and then went to Decorah High School. She learned Latin and could type 70 wpm. Sharon put her Latin knowledge and typing skills to work in medical records and accounting. She obtained two advanced degrees – a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Stephens College and a Master of Science in Business Administration from Kennedy-Western University.
Sharon was baptized on Oct 6, 1940 and confirmed on Oct 30, 1955 at the First Lutheran Church in Decorah, IA. She has been active in recent years at the San Marcos Community Church.
She married Merrill Woosley in November 1957 while in her Senior year. In those days, married women were not allowed in High School so she dropped out and got a GED. Nine months later, Kevin was born and by the time Sharon she was 22, she had four kids Kevin, John, Scott and Bonita. She divorced and remarried several times, Merrill Woosley, David Koshatka, Charles Ogilvie (twice) and Wallace Harper. She chose and kept the name Woolsey after her divorce from Charles as it was similar to Woosley, but different. She considered all of her step children to be her extended family and continued relationships with them to the end.
Sharon enjoyed travel and made many road trips to visit friends and family. She was 100% Norwegian and travelled to Norway to visit her ancestral home. She lived near Decorah, Cedar Rapids, Phoenix, Iowa City, Miami and San Marcos, TX.
Sharon is preceded in death by her parents and her eldest son Kevin Woosley. She is survived by her son John Woosley and his wife Melinda of Austin; son Scott Woosley and his wife Candy of San Marcos; daughter Bonita Black and her husband Henry of Rockford, Illinois; and her brother Arden Vikre of San Marcos. Sharon is also survived by seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and her loving extended family.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at Thomason Funeral Home in San Marcos. Visitation with the family is at 1:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Burial to follow at San Marcos City Cemetery. Flowers from "The Floral Studio" in San Marcos.
