Sylvia Jean Zuniga, 54, a resident of San Marcos, Texas, passed away May 1, 2011. She was born March 21, 1957, in Taylor, Texas, to Gilberto and Gonzalita (Buentello) Perez. Sylvia is a graduate of San Marcos High School and was a student at Austin Community College and Southwest Texas State University. She recently was an Administrative Assistant at Texas State University where she worked for over twenty-three years. She was an active member of St. John's Catholic Church and was a member of the Cuauhtemoc Hall Association for over thirteen years. Sylvia touched the lives of many people and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Alicia Faye Buentello-Quiroz. Sylvia is survived by her husband of twenty-six years Electro Zuniga of San Marcos; her sons Edward Rene Perez and his wife Marie of San Marcos, Michael Jesus Saucedo and his wife Brittany of San Marcos, Paul Derek Perez and his wife Jessica of San Marcos, Jorden Lee Electro Zuniga and his wife Brooke of San Marcos. She is survived by her grandchildren who affectionately called her "Gamama" or "Grams". They are Dorian Edward Perez, Joshua Blaine Perez, Megan Ashton Perez, Landen Jorden Zuniga, and Trae Perez. Sylvia is also survived by her brothers Gilbert Perez, Jr., Armando Perez, and her sister Linda Contreras; and other loving relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Thomason Funeral Home in San Marcos. A Rosary will then be recited that evening at 7:00 p.m. at St. John's Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 5, 2011, at St. John's with Fr. Mark Hamlet as the officiate. Burial to follow at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale, Texas.
