Lorene Boone Risher Ott was born on November 25, 1921 in Tolbert, TX. She died on June 1, 2017 in Austin, TX with her children by her side. A service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 7th at the Lake Tanglewood Church in Amarillo. Lorene's loving parents were Johnnie Frith Boone and Clarence Eugene Boone. Their family lived in Tolbert through tornadoes, the dust bowl, failed crops and the depression. Lorene's family lost their farm and moved to Borger, TX at the peak of the oil boom. Lorene graduated from Borger High School. On January 1, 1942 she married Captain Merrill Tex Risher. They had a son, Dex Eugene Ott. Tex died in a plane crash on June 9, 1945. Lorene moved to Amarillo and worked at White and Kirk department store where she met Marion Leroy (Moon) Ott and married him in Amarillo on June 1, 1947. Lorene and Moon had two daughters, Leesa and Leean. Moon and Lorene lived in Amarillo to be close to their families while raising their three children. Moon worked at Pantex Plant for 36 years. Lorene worked at Sakowitz department store. Moon and Lorene moved to Lake Tanglewood to enjoy their retirement with many dear friends. Moon died on March 17, 2001. Lorene is survived by Leesa Ott of Wimberley; Leean Ott of Austin; Dex Ott of Austin; daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen Ott; adopted son and daughter, Marshall and Cathy Brazille; three grandchildren, Matt Ott, Alex Ott and his wife, Carrie and Kristin Gorski and her husband, Robert; four great-grandchildren, Holden, Conrad, Sydnie and Vivian. The family suggests memorial be given to the EMT and Fire Department of Lake Tanglewood, 201 Northshore Dr., Amarillo, TX 79118.
