Obituary

Surrounded by his loving family, Richard Farrell Sensat of Wimberley TX ended his 24 year battle with Parkinson's Disease on Saturday, June 10th, 2017. He left peacefully to be with our Lord at the age of 76.

Richard, known to those closest to him as Dick, was born in Houston TX to Stanley and Josephine Sensat on February 12, 1941. Two years later he was joined by his brother Mark, forging a bond filled with a lifetime of love and laughter.

In 1965, Dick married the love of his life, Jean Zagst. The young couple moved to Beaumont TX to pursue Dick's career in pharmaceutical sales. For 26 years, Dick's natural warmth and gregarious personality propelled him into top salesman status with Marion Laboratories, East Texas territory. It was in Beaumont that Dick and Jean raised their three children. He was defined by the devotion he had for his family, providing them with unending patience, compassion and tenderness.

Later, Dick found his greatest joy in his three grandchildren. He was so very proud of them and his eyes would brighten whenever they were around. Other members of his family were of the furry kind. There was rarely an occasion when he didn't have a labrador retriever riding shotgun in his pickup truck, and Sweet Annie was faithfully at Dick's side when he passed.

Dick was always the life of the party due to his amazing sense of humor and story telling ability. Thriving on laughter and smiles, he had a hilarious outlook on life and the room was always more colorful when Dick was in it.

Dick always stood for what was right and good, and he was a faithful man. He was a fierce and loyal friend to those that came to know him. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, a self-taught poet, a writer and, most noteworthy, an artist. If something was broken, he'd tinker to fix it or at the very least, rig it to work.

In his later years, Dick found his comfort and peace on his property "Lost Creek" and in the arms of the most dedicated person he knew, his wife Jean. The love shared in the 52 years of marriage was unparalleled and something to be admired.

Dick is survived by his wife Jean, his children Kelli, Amy and her husband Bryan Schaefer, Andrew and his wife Rami Sensat, his grandchildren Samuel Schaefer, Marlene Schaefer and Wilson Sensat.

Services will be held on Friday, June 23rd at 11am. There will be a funeral Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Wimberley TX. Arrangements are made through Thomason Funeral Home, Wimberley. Donations in memory of Richard Farrell Sensat can be made through samoves.com or through the national Parkinson's Disease foundation at apdaparkinson.org.
