Dr. Garland G. Hunnicutt of San Marcos, Texas passed away at his home on September 16, 2017. He was born in Odessa, Texas on October 16, 1940, the only child of Garland and Mabel Hunnicutt. Garland earned two undergraduate degrees at the University of Texas at Austin and two advanced degrees at the University of Arkansas. He began his teaching career at San Angelo State University, where he taught business courses. He retired from Texas State University as Professor of Management after teaching there for 35 years. He was a dedicated teacher and won several teaching awards during his career. He did research involving the social responsibility of business. Garland was a loyal friend who loved sharing his home and cooking skills with others.
Survivors include Sherry Unger of Fort Worth; Kay Scroggins of San Antonio; Brandi, Mike, Tristen, Maci, and Harli Wilbanks of Azle, Texas; Ronnie and Jay Shackelford of Mount Pleasant; Rick Greenfield and Harmony Greenfield of San Antonio; Karlina, Rich, Nathan, and Caleb Popwell of Bozeman, Montana; and Luke Scroggins of Chicago, Illinois; and many other cousins.
A visitation will be held at Thomason Funeral Home in Wimberley, Texas (14700 N. Ranch Road 12) from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. A private burial will be held in the Sandy Cemetery near Sandy, Texas.
