On Thursday, October 19, 2017, a new shining star was added to the heavens when Yolanda D. Ramirez decided that her time with us was complete. Yolanda, the youngest daughter of Delfino Ramirez and Maria DeLeon Ramirez was vibrant and fearless woman. She was full of life and laughter every day. She was also always willing to lend a helping hand. Yolanda embraced the idea that life was a journey and believed in the duty to give to those less fortunate. As a result, she welcomed the opportunity to help others. She had stories for every occasion and could find humor in any situation.
Yolanda worked in her profession for over 35 years, ending her career with the City of San Marcos, choosing to retire on her birthday this year. She thought highly of her co-workers, customers, and friends and continued to have relationships with many of them after her retirement.
Yolanda also provided a tremendous amount of support to her family over her life, beginning with carrying for her younger brother Delfino, Jr., her eldest brother Tony Ramirez, and her mother Maria DeLeon Ramirez. She expressed her sincere love for other family members through constant communication and the selfless devotion of time. Yolanda was an excellent cook leaving wonderful and delicious recipes for her many nieces and nephews. She knew everyone’s favorite dish and spent countless evenings during her life cooking for birthdays, holidays, and special occasions. Her attention to detail meant the recipient felt the warmth of her love in every gift she gave. She always gave from the heart, never expecting anything in return.
Yolanda was very much the matriarch of the Ramirez family, representing all the qualities passed on from her parents. She believed in hard work, real love, and God. She will be missed by many but welcomed by many more as she joins those that have preceded her: Father Delfino Ramirez, Mother Maria DeLeon Ramirez, Brother Tony Ramirez, Brother Delfino Ramirez Jr.
Yolanda is survived by Brother Sonny Ramirez and wife Anita, Brother Richard Ramirez and wife Bella, Brother Roy Ramirez Sr. and wife Patricia, Brother Jerry Ramirez and wife Elena, Sister Mary Frances Loya and husband Joe, 16 nieces and nephews that she loved as her own children and 20 great nieces and nephews that will continue her legacy of being strong, giving, and a loving Aunt.
