Herminia “Minnie” L. Flores, age 92, was called to be with our heavenly Father on Saturday, October 28, 2017. Minnie was born on April 16, 1925, in San Marcos, Texas to Jesusita and Augustin Lucio.
If there are angels on earth, Minnie surely was one of them. Regardless of what came her way, Minnie maintained an unwavering faith in God. She was a life-long member of St. John’s Catholic Church in San Marcos, where she spent countless hours volunteering with the Sociedad Archicofradia del Inmaculado Corazón de Maria and the church choir. Minnie was also a member of the American G.I. Forum Women’s Auxiliary, and an honorary member of the San Marcos Historical Society. For many years, Minnie involved herself in local politics, proudly pushing alongside her late husband, the Honorable Luciano H. Flores, former Mayor of the City of San Marcos, for equal access and treatment for everyone in the community.
Minnie is preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, the Honorable Luciano H. Flores, her son Richard A. Flores, son-in-law Darrell J. Wyont, and her brothers, Juan, Augustin, Manuel, Herbert, Raymond, and Toby Lucio.
Minnie is survived by her son George A. Flores (Connie), daughters Blanche Flores Wyont and Laura Flores Bentley (David); grandchildren Bianca Edwards (Blake), Michael Wyont (Hali), and Sabrina Flores; and great-grandson No lan Wyont.
The Flores family would like to thank the nurses, therapists, and staff at Legend Oaks Healthcare in New Braunfels, Texas for providing exceptional care for Minnie since moving into the facility in March 2016.
