Consuelo Hernandez Moreno Garza (Connie), age 90, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on December 14, 2017. She was born in Lockhart, Texas on March 26, 1927 to Isaac and Prisciliana Hernandez.

A devout Catholic, she served 4 decades of her life in La Sociedad Archicofradia del Inmaculado Corazón de Maria and as an Extraordinary Minister for St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in San Marcos, Texas. She enjoyed serving her community in prayer, crafting, songwriting, and traveling. She was fortunate to have pilgrimaged to Italy to see Pope John Paul II and the Holy Land in the 1980s.

She is survived by her children Robert Moreno (Rosalinda), Elvira Moreno Moncada (Roger), Connie Garza Guilbeau (John Torres), Sylvia Garza, and grandchildren Angela Moncada, Roger Aaron Moncada (Dolores), April Venzor née Moreno (Adam), John Isaac Moncada, Cimonnett Guilbeau (Seth), Jacob Guilbeau, and 9 great grandchildren. Connie is further survived by her siblings Angelita Quiroz, Trinidad Garcia, and Francisco Garcia; and ex-husband Candido Garza.

She is preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband Remigio Moreno, infant son Remigio Moreno; brothers Enrique Hernandez, Pedro Hernandez, Vicente Hernandez, and Socorro Garcia, Eulalio Garcia Sr.; stepbrothers Nicolas Garcia and Rafael Garcia; sisters Maria Garcia, Georga Silguero, Manuela Garcia Cruz Ibarra; stepsisters Maria Inocencia Silguero, Agustina Silguero, Efijenia De La Cruz, and Chavela Rodriguez; and brother in law Francisco Quiroz.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening, December 19, 2017 from 2:00 to 9:00 pm with a Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 pm at Thomason Funeral Home in San Marcos. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church with Father Jairo Lopez officiating. No funeral procession will occur from the funeral home to the church. The family requests everyone meet at the church at 10 am. For more information, visit
