Walter Ray Hull, at the age of 75, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on December 20th, 2017.
Ray, also known as “Butch” in his earlier years, was born in Uvalde, TX to Alton and Hallie Hull. He attended high school in Austin before moving to San Antonio where he played clarinet in the band and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1961. He worked at Sears for 25 years and worked at Security State Bank & Trust for 20 years. He married his wife Susan Funsten on February 8, 1969. Ray served his country in the Air Force and Reserves during the Vietnam War, earning the Sharpshooter Medal with an honorable discharge.
Growing up Ray spent his summers with his sister Cheri helping their grandmother Daisy Dobie run Blue Hole, and at his Uncle Lloyd and Aunt Lolita Leinneweber’s ranch in Wimberley, TX.
Cars were his passion, being an avid NASCAR fan and rarely missed a race by his daughter Carolyn and Joe Aramendia. He enjoyed traveling to Lake Travis to fish with his dad and family. He enjoyed the beach during the summers. He also had a love for music and an unconditional love for his family and friends.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents - Hallie Lee Zoeller and Alton Hull. He is survived by his wife (of 50 years) Susan Hull, his daughters Donna Lee Hull and Carolyn Hull Aramendia; her husband, Joe; grandchildren, Nicole, Joeylynn, Carol and Vinnie; great grandchild, Jude; Ray’s sister, Cheri Krizek (David); nieces, Shellie and Janice; great niece, Mattie; great nephew, Marshall and numerous relatives and great friends. Ray will be greatly missed by all his family and friends and he will be forever in our hearts.
There will be a graveside service held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 27th, 2017 at the Wimberley Cemetery. Located at 501 Old Kyle Road, Wimberley, TX 78676. Arrangements are by Thomason Funeral Home.
