Obituary

Helen Katherine Williams peacefully walked into the arms of her loving Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 23, 2017 at the age of 96. She was born in Lafayette, LA on May 1, 1921. She cultivated a legacy of faith in God and a large web of family that she held dear to her heart. In the days leading up to her homecoming, she was surrounded by all that she loved, her God and her family.

Helen was a born -again believer and a faithful prayer warrior for all she loved. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Kyle for 34 years. She was a quiet and private woman but gave all she had to those whom she loved. She will forever be remembered by her family for her love of large family gatherings, a lifetime of camping trips, shrimp boils and Cajun cooking and her unconditional love and grace.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Granvil Ray “GR” Williams; her parents George and Jeanne Creswell; eleven brothers and one sister; son-in-law Mel Kyser and nephew Glenn Cook. She is survived by four daughters, Karen Kyser, Jan Karr (Ted), Kathy Jurek (Fred) and Debra Reeves (Jeff); seven grandchildren, Aaron Karr (Brooke), Aimee Doring (Brad), Jason Kyser (Alicen), Elizabeth Kyser, Sara Lewis, Meagan Baldauf (George IV) and Josh Jurek (Kristen); eight great-grandchildren, Aidan Karr, Brynley Karr, William Doring, Madelyn Lipich, Elliot Lewis, George Baldauf V, Katelynn Jurek and Kinley Jurek; close family friend, Donna Richardson; and nephews, Stephen Cook, Tim Cook, and David Cook.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to The Shephard’s House c/o First Baptist Church of Kyle, 400 W. Center St. Kyle, TX 78640.

Graveside service will be conducted at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. Funeral arrangements are graciously being made by Thomason Funeral Home in San Marcos (512) 396-2300.
