Patricia “Patti” Lynn Haynes, 71 of San Marcos, passed away January 26, 2018 in San Marcos, Texas. Patti was born to Joyce and James in McAllen, Texas on November 11, 1946. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in San Antonio in 1964. Patti retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in 1991 after twenty-eight years of service. Never one to rest idly by, Patti began a second career after relocating to San Marcos and went to work at the Texas State University- Student Health Center. She was a member of Pioneers of AT&T and Friends of the Cemetery. She enjoyed traveling, watching college and professional football, discussing politics, working crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family.
Patti is preceded in death by her husband, Benny Edward Haynes; parents, Joyce Darlyn Martin, James Lewis Vinyard and adopted father Bob C. Chisum; and a brother, Bobby Clayton Chisum.
Survivors include daughter, Rusti Lyn Burnett and her husband Wade of Austin and three grandchildren that she loved beyond measure: Keith, Kaylyn and Jack Burnett; her step-daughter Stephanie and her husband Larry Socha of San Angelo and four grandsons that Patti treasured: Matthew, Warren, Jeffrey and Russell: sister-in-law Elizabeth Thompson of Ft. Worth and her sons Joe and Josh; and her mother-in-law Elizabeth “Mickey” Vinyard of Waco, Texas.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Central Texas Medical Center ICU nursing staff for their support in her final days. The family would also like to express how thankful they are for the staff and Dr. Jeff Jorgensen at the Animal Care Center of Hays County for taking such amazing care of Patti’s poodle, Bobby Jr.
Visitation will be held at Thomason Funeral Home in San Marcos on February 2, 2018 at 5:00pm-8:00pm. The funeral service will be held at Thomason Funeral Home on February 3, 2018 at 10:00am with Reverend Don Owens of St. Mark’s Episcopal officiating. Burial will follow immediately at the San Marcos Cemetery.
