W. L. “Dub” Salsman, Jr., 88, of Woodcreek, TX passed away on February 22, 2018 in Kyle, TX. “Dub” was born in Weatherford, TX on February 18, 1930 to William Larkin Salsman, Sr. and Josephine Franks Salsman. “Dub” grew up in Mineral Wells, TX and graduated from Santo High School in Santo, TX. He joined the Air Force and served in Japan until the beginning of the Korean War and was transferred to Carswell AFB in Ft. Worth, TX where he flew in B29 bombers on many classified missions. After being discharged from the Air Force, he attended North Texas State University in Denton, TX. He met and married Mary Redmon on September 4, 1954. After graduation in 1954, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force Reserve and retired as a Major. He worked for the Dept. of Defense Logistics in San Antonio, TX, retiring in 1990 and moved to Wimberley, TX in 1994. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary; son, Kenneth Salsman and his wife, Lori; son, Dr. Richard Salsman and his wife, Brenda; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his four pets. Mr. Salsman once wrote, “God has greatly blessed me by letting me do the work that I loved and giving me a beautiful family.” Memorial contributions may be made in “Dub’s” name to: Children’s Program, First Baptist Church, 15951 Winters Mill Pkwy., Wimberley, TX 78676.
