Frank Manriquez passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at the age of 87 in San Marcos, Texas. He was born on October 2, 1930 in Ysleta, Texas. He was the eldest son of 10 children born to Gabriel Manriquez and Aurora Fresquez. Frank was close to his 9 siblings, Victor Manriquez, Aurelia Rosales, Rita Esparza, Gabriel Manriquez, Alex Manriquez, Salvador Manriquez, Martin Manriquez, Rosa Maria Barrera, and Luis Manriquez.
As a young man he helped his father with the family construction business. At the age of 21, he joined the Army during the Korean War.
In 1958 he married Mary Tirre in El Paso and they had two children, Rowena Vallo and Yan Manriquez.
Frank enrolled at Texas Western College in 1961 and also attended Texas A&M University in College Station. He obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Texas Western College in 1965.
As a civil engineer he was involved in multiple construction projects within the United States of America as well as Europe.
Frank was a kind and generous man who was devoted to his family and his Catholic faith. He involved himself in charitable organizations which included the Society of Saint Vincent DePaul the American Legion, and other similar organizations. He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus and was an usher at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC. Upon his retirement he continued his participation in these charitable organizations in the San Marcos area.
Frank is lived on by his wife, Mary, of 59 years; his two children, Rowena and Yan; two grandchildren, Vincent and Dorrie; and his two great Grandchildren, Vincent, Jr. and Venezza.
He was a unique, special soul who was loved by many and will be truly missed.
His family will receive friends at Saint John’s Catholic Church in San Marcos on Monday, March 5, 2018 starting at 9:00 AM, prior to a Memorial Mass in his honor at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place with military honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio at a later date.
