Alvin Lee “Moon” McDonald passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at the age of 91. Moon was born in San Antonio, Texas on October 6, 1926. He was a proud veteran serving the US Navy in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during World War II while aboard the USS Fanshaw Bay CVE-70. He was only 17-years-old when he felt the call to serve our country! After the war, Moon worked as a Journeyman Electrician for IBEW Local Union Number 60. In his younger years he enjoyed drag racing in his Roadster and hunting with his friends and brothers. He happily spent his retirement living in Wimberley, Texas by the Blanco River.
Moon was preceded in death by his parents Riss "Red" McDonald and Mildred Stowe Tackett; brothers Leon McDonald, Eugene “Tinker” McDonald, AJ “Jack” McDonald; step-sister Patty Sue Russell; and wife Mary Louise McDonald. Moon is survived by his sons Michael Wayne McDonald and Barry Lee McDonald, along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 13, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Thomason Funeral Home in Wimberley, Texas. Interment to follow at Wimberley Cemetery in Wimberley, Texas.
