Obituary for Deloria Belle "Pumpkin" Reese

Deloria Belle “Pumpkin” Reese was born June 7, 1942, in San Marcos, Texas, to Anna Belle Brown. She was raised by her mother, Anna and stepfather, Willie Cephas. Deloria attended grade schools in San Marcos and attended San Marcos High School. After High School, Deloria worked at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, in the Food Service Department. She retired from SWTSU with more than 20 years of service. After retirement she became fulltime caregiver of her beloved sister Charlotte until her death in April 2018.

Deloria accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Jackson Chapel United Methodist Church in San Marcos, Texas, where she remained a member until her passing. Deloria was affectionally called “Pumpkin” by family and friends. She had a loving and kind spirit with a passion of caring for her loved ones. Pumpkin loved playing softball, participating in all kinds of barbeque and chili cook-offs. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends, that always included cooking,
barbequing, listening and dancing to music (especially blues music). Pumpkin always had a smile on her face, with an infectious laugh, that will be missed by all who knew her. Deloria is proceeded in death by her parents, Anna Belle and Willie Cephas, Sister’s, Perlia Cephas Manning and Charlotte Burnette Williams, and niece Demetria Manning. She leaves to cherish her memory two nephews, Fredrick Manning of San Marcos, Texas and Forrest Manning Jr. of Kyle, Texas, cousins Rose Brooks, Michele Burleson (Brian) and Reuben Brooks all of San Marcos, Texas; Bobbie Shaw (Antwine) of Austin, Texas; Fred Harris, Emma Beck, Carol Harris, Don Thomas, Johnny Thomas, Lawrence Thomas, Donna K. Harris, Robert Harris and Barbara Estrada all of San Antonio, Texas and a host of family and friends.
