Obituary for Mary Edna Weber

Mary Edna Madden Weber, of Wimberley, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on the Blanco River on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the age of 85. A native of Houston, she was born on April 15, 1933 to Edna E. Rick and John William Madden of Houston. Her nickname growing up was “Little Mother” but if you ask some of her siblings, they will tell you it was really “Bossy Mary.” She graduated from St. Agnes Academy in Houston. Mary Edna married her childhood sweetheart, Robert (Bob) William Weber, Sr., on April 18, 1953, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Houston. After having lived in New Orleans, Louisiana for two years while Bob was in the U.S. Coast Guard, they returned to Houston to start their family. During their marriage of 65 years, Mary Edna and Bob raised six children “out in the country” on Almeda-Genoa Rd. She loved Saturday evening dances, traveling, making pie crusts, Thanksgiving dressing, dewberry jelly and peach preserves, fudge, fried chicken, cheese straws, piddling with her plants, pancake breakfasts after 8:00 am Mass every Sunday morning, with those special “Mickey Mouse” pancakes, praying the rosary every night with Bob before they went to bed, but most of all, being the best “Little Mother” to her brood. Mary Edna is survived by her husband, Bob, of Wimberley, TX; daughter, Mary Catherine Biediger, and husband, Deacon Larry, of Hockley, TX; son, Robert William Weber, Jr., and his wife, Griselda, of Houston; daughter, Edna Marie Wilshusen, and her husband, Richard, of Houston; daughter, Margaret Ann Harris, and husband, Doug, of Fulshear, TX; daughter, Sharon Elizabeth Bills, and husband, Steve, of Sealy, TX; and daughter, Annette Louise Smith, and husband, Robbie, of Waller, TX. She was MawMaw to 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Mary was sister to and survived by her sister, Lucy Burns, sister, Ann Landmesser, and her husband, Larry, sister, Edna Berres, and her husband, Paul, sister, Bertha Hutcheson, brother, John, and his wife, Rita, sister, Alice Lossen, and her husband, Joe, and brother, Joe, and his wife, Jeannine; and numerous beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her infant brother George, brothers-in-law Tom Hutcheson and John Burns, brother, Billy, nephew Martin Burns, and great-granddaughter, Lily. A rosary will be recited in Wimberley, TX at Thomason Funeral Home, 14700 Ranch Road 12, at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, October 23, 2018.
