Consuelo H. Chagoya, 87, of San Marcos was called to rest by our heavenly Father on January 5, 2010. He was born in Staples TX on January 14, 1922.
Consuelo was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was an active member of The Guadalupe Church where he served as a Guadalupano, volunteered his time to serve the Lord. He was devoted to reading the Bible daily. He was a great carpenter; opportunities would arise to share his talents which he loved. Always eager to lend a hand to anyone in need. He had a kind, gentle soul who walked in the shadow of the Lord. His strong Catholic faith was passed on from generation, to generation, to generation.
He is preceded in death by his sons David and Ismael Chagoya. Parents Inez and Jose Chagoya, Brother Guadalupe Chagoya, Sister Antonia Facundo and Niece Irene Alvarez.
He is survived by wife Ruth; married in 1941. They raised eleven children; sons Hilberto Chagoya of San Antonio, TX, Juan (Velia) and Joe (Cindy) Chagoya of San Marcos. Daughters Mary Villanueva (Raymond), Olivia Espinoza (James), Linda Chagoya-Delgado(Rudy), Sulema Garcia (Manuel Gonzalez) and Elsa Valdez all of San Marcos, Yolanda Garcia (Daniel) of Austin. Brothers Franciso (Bodelia) of Ft. Worth, Miguel(Andrea) of Austin, Epifanio(Elida) of Dallas, Gabriel(Frances) of Buda. Sister Jesusa Facundo (Santos), Lala Serna (Frank), Janie Rodriguez (Jesse) of San Marcos, Catalina Euresti of Lockhart, Carmen Cabarello of Austin, and Sara Cardenas of Brownsville. He had 33 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Ismael Chagoya, Robert Espinoza, Jacob Delgado, John Ismael Valdez, Andy Garcia Jr., & Joshua Chagoya. Honorary Pallbearers Rene Pavia, Ernest Chagoya, & James Chagoya. They family would like to express their gratitude for the loving care Consuelo received from St. David's Hospital and staff.
