David Mendoza Calderon, age 49, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014. David passed peacefully in his sleep.
To cherish his memory, David leaves his first wife, Lucinda Anguiano Corsale, mother of his son Matthew David Ryan Calderon and his second wife, Josie Herrera Calderon, mother of his son Michael David Calderon. He is also survived by his father, Jesus Calderon; sisters Susan Tanon (Daryl Friday), Sandra Calderon Moreno (Javier), and Judy Calderon; brother Steven Calderon (Monica); nephews Brandon Calderon, Bryan Gloria and Bryce Calderon; great-nephew Brandon Calderon, Jr.; great-niece Marisela Elidia Calderon; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friend throughout San Marcos and Austin.
Serving as pallbearers will be Hector Mendoza, Sergio Mendoza, Jeremiah Mendoza, Andy James Prado, Brandon Calderon and David John Flores. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Daryl Friday and Francisco Mendoza, Jr.
His mother, Elidia "Lily" Mendoza Calderon, preceded him in death.
David was born in Chillicothe, Texas April 18, 1965. He graduated from San Marcos High School. He lived in San Marcos, Texas until he moved to Austin, Texas in 1999 where he worked at South Austin Hospital, Austin Radiological Association, and Costco and finally the Texas Department of Health and Human Services.
Long known for love of photography, David captured memories in his photos of countless weddings, quinceañeras, graduations and family events throughout the years.
The family would like to thank Sylvester and Letti Castillo for their dedication and support, as they helped care and pray for David throughout this past year.
David was a member of Arise Christian Ministries in Austin, Texas.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 4 from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Thomason Funeral Home, 2001 Old Ranch Road 12, San Marcos, TX 78666. A celebration of his life will be held at 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 5 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at San Juan Cemetery.
