Obituary

George Lewis Doring was born August 21, 1924 to George Samuel Doring and Ora Opal Doring in Childress, TX. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Billie Sue Doring; Son, Ronald Lewis Doring (Kathy); Grandsons, Brad L. Doring (Aimee), Nathan P. Doring (Sharon), Jeffrey M. Doring (Autumn), Blake C. Fletcher (Stefanie) and Brett S. Fletcher (Fay); as well as 7 great grandchildren, Emalyn Doring, Braden Doring, Brooklyn Doring, Sienna Fletcher, William Doring, Kathryn Doring, and Evelyn Fletcher; and Sisters, Jeanette Moody (Jim) and Carolyn Harlow.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his Brother, Adolf Doring; Daughter, Susan Fletcher; and Sister, Mary Mueller. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Lewis served in the Marine Corp during World War 2, was in 4 major battles in the Pacific, and was wounded in June of 1945, receiving the Purple Heart.

His family will receive friends at Westover Baptist Church in San Marcos on Friday, February 10, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. Interment will follow on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio at 10:15 A.M.
