Obituary

James Buchanan Winn III "Jim", a lifetime resident of Wimberley, TX peacefully passed away the morning of July 16 in his home on the Four Winn's Ranch in Wimberley at the age of 68. Jim was born on November 20, 1942 to James Buchanan Winn JR "Buck" and Kathryn Winn "Kitty".

Jim was the First Eagle Scout in Hays County, He was elected as High school Class President, Voted Most Dependable his senior year, served in the Army Reserves and later attended Texas Christian University. Jim ran for State Representative and Mayor of Wimberley. Our amazing Jim could keep anyone interested in his stories so it comes as no surprise that he was a member of the Story Telling Association. Building Contractor and accomplished welder receiving a Hall of Fame Award for Excellent Craftsmanship and Construction. Jim was a Licenced Real Estate Broker and Licenced Mediator, and on the Board of PEC. He had a passion for traveling, especially to the Mountains and was a rancher with a love for his John Deer.

Jim is survived by his children Jeff Frosch, Andrew Colburn Winn and April Jean Winn. His beloved Joy Masso "Joy Bug". Grandchildren: Abigayle Suzanne Winn and Nathan Wilder Winn, Jim's sister Kathryn Winn Eoff, her children and their families. Jim is also survived by many other family members as well as friends that he considered family.

A Celebration of his Life will be held on Wednesday, July 20 with the viewing at 12:00 pm and the service following at 1:00 pm at the First Christian Church 3105 Ranch Road 12 in San Marcos, TX. The Burial will be immediately following at the Wimberley Cemetery. Flowers may be sent to Thomason Funeral Home located at 2001 Ranch Road 12, San Marcos, TX, 78666 or a donation may be made to the Lymphoma Research Foundation (Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia) on behalf of Jim Winn.
