JOHN MABRY CARSON, 86, a longtime resident of San Marcos, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on June 13, 2017. He was born January 24, 1931, in Hearne, Texas, to John A. and Erna J. (Pope) Carson. John received his Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy at the University of Texas. On September 17, 1953, he married Barbara Darline Webb and they remained married for sixty-two years. John worked as a pharmacist for over sixty years. In that time he and Barbara owned Hillburn's Pharmacy and the B&J Pharmacy here in San Marcos. John was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Sunday school teacher, and held other positions over the years. He was also very active in the Gideons International for over forty years.
John is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Carson; son John Douglas Carson; and daughter-in-law Sue Carson. He is survived by his son Robert Carson and his daughter Darlene Bohmfalk; his granddaughters Laura Bohmfalk, Amanda Ramirez and her husband John Moses of San Marcos, Lisa King and her husband Aaron of Waco, and Jennifer Carson of San Antonio. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren Madison Ramirez and Annabel King; his sister Freida Carson of Dallas; and other loving relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held Sunday, June 18, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Thomason Funeral Home in San Marcos. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 19, 2017, at Calvary Baptist Church. John will be laid to rest in the San Marcos City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 1906 N. IH35, San Marcos, TX, 78666; or to the Gideons International, PO Box 614, San Marcos, TX, 78666.
