Morris (Moose) Ray Haggerton was born on June 17, 1933 in Loraine, Texas to Ola Mae Church and Johnie Haggerton. Morris was called to the Lord on November 9, 2017 at 1:56 pm at the age of 84.

Morris graduated from High School in Sweetwater, Texas in 1951 and attended Texas A&I College at Kingsville, Texas in 1958 with a Bachelor of Degree in Business Administration. He began his career in San Antonio, Texas working for Duncan Coffee/Maryland Coffee Company, Houston, Texas. He retired from Coca Cola Foods Company in 1985 and Sara Lee in 1995 as Vice President of National Sales. Morris and Patsy moved to Wimberley, Texas in 1995.

Morris served our country, enlisting in the Marine Corps in 1954 with many accommodations for his service during the Korean War. Morris received many awards for his services as a respected leader in Wimberley, Texas; he served as Jr. and Sr. Vice Commander of the VFW, as Mayor of the City of Woodcreek, Texas, President of the Wimberley Lion’s Club; he received the “Melvin Jones Award”. Morris and Patsy have been members in support of The Chapel in Hills Church where he served as Vice President and President. He was an active Mason in many different roles including Master of the Lodge 3rd Degree Mason; he received the 2006 “Golden Trowel Award”. He also served as President of the Shriners and was a Scottish Rites 32nd Degree. Morris was Wimberley’s First “Citizen of the Year’ in 2003 and the Veterans Memorial honored Morris in 2010 as “Patriot of the Year”.

He leaves behind his beloved wife Patsy Jane Calloway. They met in 1948 at Sweetwater Jr. High School and stayed in touch and married in 1954; they enjoyed 69 wonderful years together. Morris was preceded in death by his mother Ola Mae Church, his father Johnie Haggerton and his brother Don Haggerton and twin brother Norris Jay Haggerton.

Morris and Patsy have 5 loving children, 10 Grandchildren and 6 Great-Grandchildren. He is survived by his oldest son Malcomb Haggerton and wife Melessia of The Woodlands, Texas, daughter Mechelle Stone and husband Tom of Trophy Club, Texas, daughter Melinda Haggerton of Pasadena, Texas, daughter Meloni Haggerton of Austin, Texas and son Morris (Scooter) Haggerton, Jr. and wife Brandy of Houston, Texas. Grandchildren - Rebecca Canizaro and husband Rodney, Josh Lightfoot and wife Julie and Ryan Lightfoot, Ashleigh Childress-Hitschmann, Austin Childress and wife Mondie, Aaron Hunter Childress and wife Anna, Lori Haggerton, Danielle Zigal, Hannah Dittrich, Starla Haggerton, Trinity Haggerton. Great-Grandchildren - Cassie Canizaro, Chance Canizaro, Garrett Hitschmann, Caitlyn Lightfoot, Chloe Lightfoot Bishop Lightfoot. Additionally, his niece Patrice Greer and husband Randy of San Marcos and sister in-law Nancy Emerson of Paris, Texas.

Services honoring Morris Haggerton will be held in Wimberley, Texas at Chapel in the Hills Church on Thursday, November 16th at 10:30am, reception following in Avey Hall at the Church. All friends and family are welcome to join in celebration of Morris’ life.
