Ramon Camacho, age 89, of San Marcos, Texas died Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Central Texas Medical Center in San Marcos, Texas, with his family by his side. He was born on March 8, 1925 to Juan and Maria Camacho of San Marcos, Texas. At the age of 12 his family moved to Ohio where he worked for the Ohio Railroad Commission. They then traveled to Indiana. In 1945 he returned to San Marcos, Texas. Ramon worked for more than 30 years for the City of San Marcos until he retired. Ramon enjoyed spending his days working in the yard, driving around San Marcos, spending time with family, and talking about the past. In his final years, he loved to take walks and stop to visit with the neighbors. He continued to garden and enjoy the outdoors. He was a loving, hardworking, and inventive person who always created something out of nothing. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Maria Camacho of San Marcos, his sister, Florinda Hernandez of Bryan, Texas, brothers, Guadalupe Camacho of San Diego, California, Ben Camacho of San Marcos, Texas, and son, Ruben Camacho of San Antonio, Texas. Ramon is survived by his brother, John Camacho of Bryan, Texas. Three daughters, Susie Perez and husband Juan of San Marcos, Texas, Josie Romo and husband Raymond of Kyle, Texas, and Maria Theresa of San Marcos, Texas. He also leaves behind 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
