Dwayne Thomason is a graduate of Humble High School in Humble, Texas where he was born and raised. He graduated from Commonwealth College of Mortuary Science with a degree in Funeral Directing and Embalming in 1974. Dwayne is also a licensed crematory operator. He married his childhood sweetheart, Marsha and they have one son, Ryan, who attended public school in San Marcos, graduating in 1996. The Thomason family moved to San Marcos to open the San Marcos location in 1983 and the Wimberley location in 1988. Dwayne is an active member of the San Marcos Rotary Club and enjoys fly-fishing, hunting, and skeet-shooting.
Marsha Thomason is a graduate of Humble High School and received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Houston. Prior to joining the company on an administrative level, she was Vice President of the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce from 1986 to 1992, worked for the San Marcos CISD from 1993-1996, and has held a real estate license since 1999. She manages the office and many of the details of the business operations. She is an active member of Community Bible Study in San Marcos and enjoys travelling throughout the United States.
Tony Reeves, a former resident of Louisiana, graduated from Miami-Dade Community College School of Mortuary Science and received a degree in Applied Arts and Sciences from Texas State University. He has been a licensed funeral director and embalmer since 1989, serving families in South Florida, central Arizona and Texas. He joined the Thomason Funeral Home in 2008. Tony enjoys playing guitar and spending time with family and friends.
Jose was born and raised in Eagle Pass, Texas, where he graduated from Eagle Pass High School in 2006. He earned his Associate’s Degree in Applied Science in Funeral Service in 2023 at San Antonio College. He obtained his Crematory Operator Certification during his time in school. Jose was proudly selected as the Distinguished Graduate for his graduating class.
He is married to his wife Melissa and lives in Kyle. TX along with their daughter (Regina Paola) & two fur babies, Beau & Luna. Jose has desired to serve as a Funeral Director and Embalmer since he was 18. He always had a passion for helping people and is the kind of person who is eager to learn and make a difference.

Jose is actively involved in his community and is a member of The National Honor Society of Leadership & Success, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, Rho Sigma Gamma, Texas Funeral Directors Association, and National Funeral Directors Association. He enjoys attending the Men’s Bible Study at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Jose also enjoys grilling at home, going to the cinema, and attending concerts & comedy shows. When asked who he admires, he says his sister Sonia because she was the first in his family to graduate from college.
Hector Ferrer is a long-time San Marcos resident and graduate of San Marcos High School. He attended the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and later Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State—San Marcos). He majored in Philosophy. He received his Associates Degree in Mortuary Science with honors from Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service in Houston in 1993, and obtained his Funeral Director’s and Embalmer’s License for the State of Texas. Hector is also a licensed crematory operator. Hector has been with Thomason Funeral Home since 2001. He is married and has two children and is an active member of the H. L. Grant Catholic Student Center in San Marcos. Hector enjoys classical music, the arts, swimming, volleyball, smoking cigars and pipes, and reading.

Becky Sierra joined the Thomason Funeral Home staff in 2007. She graduated from the San Antonio College School of Mortuary Science in 2000 and gained her experience as a licensed funeral director in Austin, TX. Becky is also a licensed crematory operator. Becky has a rich Texas heritage as a 7th generation Texan and 3rd generation San Marcan. Prior to her role as a funeral director, Becky served San Marcos and Hays County in an elected judicial position as Justice of the Peace for 30 years. She is a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and she and her husband Albert have 3 children and 3 grandchildren. Becky loves to gourmet cook, travel with her husband and family and ride horses.
Amanda Garza-Ruiz joined the Thomason Funeral Home staff as a Funeral Ambassador in 2023. Amanda has the opportunity of making a difference in the lives of families we serve while assisting with visitations, rosaries, masses, funerals and or memorial services. She was born and raised in San Marcos, Texas and graduated from San Marcos High School in 1968. Amanda retired from San Marcos C.I.S.D. in 2003 in her role as Parent Community Liaison. She was also a coordinator at Southwest Texas (now Texas State) with two federal community mobilization grant programs.
As she began her career, Amanda was privileged to work alongside Justice of the Peace, Becky Sierra as her first secretary. Amanda and her husband Ruben have 2 children and 3 grandchildren. They are members of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She loves to bake, travel, dance, antique shop and listen to oldies music.
Her passion and sensitivity comes from the heart.
Laurie is a native Texan who grew up in Mansfield, Texas. Laurie has a passion for learning and comes from a teaching background. While she no longer teaches math, she finds herself to still be very much an educator, teaching the community about the advantages of having their final arrangements planned well in advance. Coming from a family of veterans, she particularly enjoys working with veterans to secure their military benefits. She lives in Wimberley, Texas and can usually be found at the veteran's hall Friday nights for bingo.
Sarah is a native San Marcan with 15 years of experience in digital marketing and a bachelor's degree in Mass Communication. She enjoys caring for her family and raising two feisty miniature goats.

Becky is a lifelong resident with a love for serving her community. Recently retired from Texas State University after 25 years of service, she loves spending time with family and friends, golfing, event planning and uplifting others. Becky and her husband Sam have been married 40 years and have three sons. “I’m looking forward to once again serving my community," Becky said.
Born and raised in San Marcos, Terry retired from Texas State University after 30 years of service. Prior to that, she worked at Gary Job Corps and the Central Texas Medical Center-San Marcos. Terry moved to Lockhart in 1980 and has one daughter and a granddaughter. She enjoys gardening, spending time with her granddaughter and catching up with her friends.
Nancy is a Lockhart native and a former employee of Kaigler’s Ready to Wear. She recently retired after 25 years of service with Rucker/Ohlendorf Insurance. Nancy enjoys music, dances, reading and traveling to see her grandbabies. She has two children and a Boxer named Charliee.
